The best way to learn to throw is with one-on-one instruction. Private lessons give you the full attention that is necessary while you are forming habits of control and movement needed to be successful. We use a very simple method that teaches you a step-by-step approach to making pots on the wheel. We have tools that can help you and many years experience teaching both adults and youth. Usually I will spend about 2-hours with a student on the first session, so I can see where you are in your learning and then set goals to help you improve.

Making pottery without a wheel opens a world of non-cylindrical opportunities! You can make any shape you want using slabs, coils or pinching methods. All you need is a work surface and a few simple tools and you are on your way. Beyond the basic methods, you’ll want to to decorate your surfaces with texture, utilize different glazes, slips and oxides and explore more
challenging projects. Normally we spend at least 2 hours with hand-building. It’s a slower process and requires more time.
